About the Organization & Community Impact
The thrift store is part of the Aldersgate Outreach Community Center, a mission of Aldersgate United Methodist Church that serves local families facing food insecurity and other financial pressures. Proceeds from thrift-store sales support the AOCC Food Pantry and related outreach programs, while the store itself keeps prices intentionally affordable so useful goods can be reused rather than discarded. AOCC reports serving hundreds of families and seniors through its food-pantry work, with volunteers from East Brunswick and neighboring communities helping operate both programs. For donors, that means a household item can create several layers of local value: it can become affordable merchandise for another family, help keep usable material out of the waste stream, and generate revenue that supports neighbors who need food and basic assistance.
