About the Organization & Community Impact

The Giving Network is an all-volunteer Somerset County nonprofit whose mission is to collect excess household goods and make them available to people in need through partner organizations. The group grew out of a community response to Hurricane Floyd and continued after volunteers recognized that many local households face ongoing shortages of basic home items. Donated goods are organized and distributed according to specific community needs, including household supplies, linens, small appliances and baby items. For estate donors, this is a direct redistribution model rather than a conventional resale program: accepted items are prepared for households that have been identified through local service partners. The organization also assists with food deliveries, extending its role as a practical volunteer network for neighbors facing economic hardship.
