About the Organization & Community Impact

The Monmouth County SPCA’s Maureen O’Brien Cats and Dogs Thrift Store is a fundraising arm of the animal shelter. The organization states that 100% of thrift-store sales proceeds support the shelter, helping provide care for animals served by the SPCA. Donated goods create an additional community benefit because the shop offers pet supplies, clothing, housewares and other merchandise at affordable prices; certain textiles or books that are not sold through the store may also be recycled or redirected in ways that generate further support. For estate donors, this turns usable personal property into a direct contribution to animal welfare while keeping saleable goods in circulation. The shop’s volunteer and donation model links everyday reuse with shelter operations and care for homeless animals.
