About the Organization & Community Impact

The Arc of Cape May County Thrift Store is connected with The Arc, a nonprofit network serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Arc organizations work to promote inclusion, independence, self-determination and participation in community life through services that may include employment support, day programs, residential services, recreation, advocacy and family assistance. Thrift operations create both revenue and practical opportunities: donated goods can be resold at affordable prices, proceeds can help support local programs, and some locations also use the retail environment for training or employment. For estate donors, a qualifying contribution therefore supports reuse while helping sustain services for people with disabilities. The exact local programs differ by county, but the underlying charitable purpose is tied to greater independence and community inclusion.
