About the Organization & Community Impact

The shop is operated by the Auxiliary of Shore Medical Center, the hospital’s original fundraising organization. Shore states that all proceeds from its auxiliary thrift shops support important hospital projects and initiatives, helping fund equipment, patient programs and services for the local community. The Auxiliary has supported Shore since 1940 through volunteer service, fundraising, the hospital gift shop, thrift stores and community events. That makes a donated household item part of a direct local healthcare-support cycle: usable goods are resold at accessible prices, volunteers help operate the shop, and the resulting revenue is reinvested in a nonprofit community hospital. For estate donors, the program combines practical reuse with a clearly identified charitable purpose tied to patient care and healthcare resources in the Shore Medical Center service area.
