About the Organization & Community Impact

Capital Thrift is operated by the Capital Health Auxiliary and is staffed and managed by volunteers. Proceeds from the thrift store are used to help the Auxiliary support health and educational programs for Capital Health patients and communities. The Auxiliary’s mission is to enhance patient-related services and support educational and health initiatives, and its projects have included comfort items, pediatric support, literacy programs, food assistance and grants for patient-care needs. Donated goods therefore become part of a local healthcare fundraising stream: merchandise is resold, volunteer effort keeps the shop operating, and net proceeds are directed back toward programs that improve the patient experience and community health. For estate donors, the store offers a practical reuse outlet with a clearly defined charitable connection to regional healthcare.
