About the Organization & Community Impact

Furniture Assist is a volunteer-driven New Jersey nonprofit built around a simple idea: move useful household goods “from those who have, to those who need.” The organization works with more than 100 government and social-service partner agencies and reports serving dozens of families each week with essential furniture and household items. Rather than functioning primarily as a thrift shop, Furniture Assist connects donated goods with households that have been referred because they lack basic furnishings. For estate administrators, this can be an especially direct form of reuse: qualifying furniture, linens, dishes, toys and other household items can become part of a family’s working home rather than being discarded or sold. The community benefit is practical, immediate and centered on helping households establish safe, functional living spaces.
