About the Organization & Community Impact

The Westfield Service League operates its thrift shop as a local fundraising program, with net proceeds awarded to nonprofit and service organizations in Westfield and Union County through the League’s grants program. The organization reports a long history of turning donated and consigned goods into community grants. Items that are suitable for sale become affordable merchandise; some unsold goods may be redirected to other charities, and even certain specialized items such as towels can be passed to animal-rescue groups. For estate donors, the shop offers a distinctly local reuse cycle: property is kept in circulation, shoppers benefit from lower-cost goods, and the resulting revenue is returned to community organizations. The model combines volunteer service, waste reduction and local philanthropy.
