About the Organization & Community Impact

HIGHWAYS is part of the Windmill Alliance, a Bayonne nonprofit that has served people in need in Hudson County since the 1980s. The organization’s programs include services for adults with developmental disabilities, supervised housing, emergency food assistance, counseling, life coaching, crisis intervention and job-related support. HIGHWAYS combines a thrift shop with social-service programming, so donated goods help sustain a broader community-service network rather than functioning only as resale inventory. For estate donors, accepted clothing and household items can therefore support affordable reuse while contributing to an organization that works with people facing disability, economic hardship and other challenges. The Alliance describes its work as promoting and protecting human rights and dignity while helping local residents meet practical needs.
